I made my very first Die Drop Table, and I want to share it with you ( it is a pay-what-you-want-product). Naturally, it is something Post-Apocalyptic as this a genre I like a lot. The little thing you are going to find below will help you to generate an encounter with (other) human survivors by the drop of three dice (a d6, a d8 and d10).

The sum of the d6 and d10 tells you how many individuals are encountered ( 2- 16).

The location of the d10 (the field it ended up in) tells you who they are (e.g. marauders, nomads, etc.)

The location and result of the d6 tells you what they are currently doing (most of the time, the characters will encounter people who are traveling themselves).

The location and result of the d8 tells you something special about this group (e.g. infected, riding on horses, demanding a toll, all dead, etc.)

Et voilá! There is your inspiration for your next encounter! If one of the results tells you to generate a second group of people, just roll the d10 and the d6 to determine who this second group is and how many they are (see above).

Do you need a name for an alien planet, ambassador, star ship or civilization? Are you the GM in a Swords & Sorcery RPG and want a non-human name for a non-human race, or for the city of this race or for one of their warriors? Does your game include chthonic god-things and demons of the outer dark, and you want names for them and their spawns? Or are you just out of names for your dark elves, atlantians and/or pseudo-egyptian valleys?

Well, as you will already guess I have made a new release at drivethrurpg.com, and this time it is 99 Exotic Sounding Names. If you stop by at my blog you are going to find 25 of the 99 names for free (if you want more, I want 50 cent from you ;) ).

It is time for another update!

First of all, there is a new pay-what-you-want title waiting for you: 100 German, Neo-Romantic Starship Names. The 100 names are (with a few exceptions) the same as in my German title “100 Sternenschiffnamen”. The difference is this product includes an (English) translation and/or explanation of the name´s meaning. All of them have a neo-romantic (or pseudo-gothic) vibe to them. They will fit well into Space-Gothic-Operas, Gramdark universes of every kind, Space-Nazi-Campaigns or the adventures of Space-Vampire-Lords (or those who hunt them).

If you like this list, please check out the following (older) pwyw titles as well :

99 Names for Space Colonies and Fringe Worlds
132 German Names (just first and last name, nothing spacey about them)
100 Names for Androids and Other Artificial Beings
100 Names for Starships in Private Hands

In addition to that, I am proud to present a MutantFuture(tm)-compatible mini dungeon: the Cavern of the Green Waterroot. A quick little romp through a cavern infested with flesh-eating flies and... well, see for yourself. Basically, it is all about this plant here:

"As the name already suggests, the Green Waterroot is an aquatic plant. It looks like drifting, pale-green vines with heart-shaped leaves. The part of it that is valued by herbalists is that it was named after: its long, fine green roots that make up 2/3 of the plant (but float under the surface). When dried, grounded down into a powder and mixed with water, it is a potent remedy against most infections and fevers (and grants a +4 to all Saving Throws to overcome said health issues). To take effect the medicine must be taken thrice a day, and each dose (a spoon full) of it is worth 2 gp. Green Waterroot is a very rare plant that only seems to grow in water that is slightly radioactive (equal to Radiation Class 1 with an interval of one hour between each Saving Throw or less)."

I like to write random encounter tables. I really do. The inspiration in a nutshell approach one can take with them appeals to me and fits my current (lack of?) writing style. What I am talking about? My latest release, 20 Weird, Irradiated Encounters for a Mutated Post-Apocalyptic Swamp, which I promptly threw onto the Weird, Irradiated Scrap Heap.

To me, the Pigmen of Mutant Future(tm) are genetically altered swine that were used as cheap front line soldiers and cannon fodder, created by mixing human DNA in. And of course, they have all the worst about being human. And they are not ashamed of it. Naturally, they have loot and they gathered loot themselves, so I released

Weird, Irradiated Loot of Pigmen and other Mutated Dogs of War

This title contains 100 items that may be found with a pigman. I included weapons of war and explosives, tools, rations, survival bric-a-brac, stuff looted somewhere else, curios and a handful of items that are meant to show that these are nasty, mean sons of a swine. Not all of the items will be actually useful to the PC, but they will make looting those pigmen more memorable to the players.

As a lot of the entries simply refer to items that have been featured in the Mutant Future(tm) core rules, this title is pay-what-you-want. But please still toss me a coin: I like to add artwork to such releases, and artwork costs money.

I like it! It would have been cool to have a drawing of a Pigman in the set.

Thanks! :D I would have loved to add some dastardly looking pigman-picture as well, but I haven´t found an affordable and neat-looking piece of stockart at drivethrurpg.com that matched the criteria. In fact, I am pretty glad that 108 Terrible Character Portraits (a GREAT, free resource for indie publishers) had a swine "manimal" picture for my cover artwork

:=) (oink , oink! That is my pigman-smiley!)

I'll definitely pick this up. I wish i could help with art, but I have no artistic talent.

Welcome to the Rockyhill Badlands!

Image

The Rockyhill Badlands is a set of 25 inter-linked encounters, with their own d100 Random Encounter table. They are meant to create an individual, named region for a GM that looks for a not-so-nondescript area to put his or her next post-apocalyptic dungeon into. The module alone may be used as a free-form hexcrawl with a few ruins to explore and plunder, and a brief adventure hook is included in the end of the PDF as well.

Factions and individual monsters/monster groups are part of the mix [all marked with an “(i)”]. If such are rolled a second time, they should either be re-rolled or will have a different outcome the second time (as the PC are interacting with a certain group within the area).

Most of the monsters encountered are part of the Mutant Future(tm) core rules (and refered to by page number), but a handful of new “creations” are introduced as well.
